CARL'S DOOMSDAY SCENARIO book 2

It is bedlam on the eighth floor.
Coast Guard vet Carl and his ex-girlfriend’s cat, Princess Donut, have survived longer and leveled up higher than anyone ever thought they could in the galaxy’s most popular reality show.
Now the stakes are the highest they’ve ever been, the rules are getting dangerously creative.
The crawlers are given a new task: Find and capture six monsters, each of which will be turned into a card.

Attention. The gates are down. The hunters are loose.

A lush jungle teeming with danger. Savage dinosaurs seeking blood. A fallen princess intent on vengeance.

And now a mysterious, end-of-floor celebration for the top crawlers, dubbed ‘The Butcher’s Masquerade.’

Surviving in a multilevel dungeon that also happens to be the set of the galaxy’s most watched game show has taught Carl and his ex-girlfriend’s cat, Princess Donut, that there’s only one thing they can count on apart from each other: they never know what’s coming next.

And this floor is no exception.

Carl and Donut have survived so far, but this fourth level is unlike anything they could imagine.

The Iron Tangle: an impossibly complicated subway system tied together into a knot of trains of all kinds.

The Carryx - part empire, part hive - has waged wars of conquest for centuries, destroying or enslaving species across the galaxy in its conflict with an ancient and deathless enemy.

When they descend on the isolated world of Anjiin, the human population is abased, slaughtered and put in chains. The best and brightest are abducted, taken to the Carryx world-palace to join prisoners from a thousand other species.

Dafyd Alkhor, assistant to a prestigious scientist, is captured along with his team. Even he doesn't suspect that his peculiar insight and skills will be the key to seeing past their captors ' terrifying agenda.

You know what’s worse than breaking up with your girlfriend? Being stuck with her prize-winning show cat.

And you know what’s worse than that? An alien invasion, the destruction of all man-made structures on Earth, and the systematic exploitation of all the survivors for a sadistic, intergalactic game show.
That’s what.

And now Coast Guard veteran Carl and his ex-girlfriend’s cat, Princess Donut, must try to survive the end of the world—or just get to the next level—in a video game-like, trap-filled, fantasy dungeon.

A dungeon that’s actually the set of a reality TV show with countless viewers across the galaxy. So not only do they have to stay alive, but they also need to earn ratings based on their performance.

Metro 2035 by Dmitry Glukhovsky is the final thrilling book in the Metro trilogy (Metro 2033, Metro 2034)

The year is 2035. It's been twenty years since World War Three wiped out humankind. The only survivors were those who made it through the gates of the Metro, the subway system of Moscow city. It's there, hundreds of feet below the ground, that they try to outlive the end of the days. But the Metro's citizens, torn apart by religions and ideologies, are fighting for the now scarce commodities: air, water and space.

Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the earth itself will perish.
Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it.
All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

My name is Mawukana na-Vdnaze, and I am a very poor copy of myself.

In telling my story, there are certain things I should perhaps lie about. I should make myself a hero. Pretend I was not used by strangers and gods, did not leave people behind.

Here is one truth: out there in deep-space, in the pilot's chair, I died. And then, I was reborn. I became something not quite human, something that could speak to the infinite dark. And I vowed to become the scourge of the world that wronged me.

Hapless second-hand bookseller Dennis stumbles through a city still shaking off the war. While out procuring inventory, Dennis's life changes forever when he chances upon a novel that shouldn't exist; an entirely fictional book from inside another novel.

The book hails from The Great When, a magical shadow-London, where reality blurs with fiction and concepts like Crime, Poetry and Riot are incarnated as mystical beings that stalk the streets. This discovery brings terrible danger, as the book's presence leaves the doorway open between the two Londons, and The Great When must remain a secret.

Soon Dennis finds himself in the city's occult underbelly, negotiating sorcerers, gangsters, and murderers - some imaginary, some all too real, and all with plans of their own. If Dennis cannot return the book and close the gate, he risks dire repercussions...
